Invite someone to setup a new Organisation

The Voluntarily platform supports three types of organisations:

  • Those that supply volunteers, usually businesses and community groups (volunteer providers or VPs;

  • those that need volunteers, usually schools and community organisations (opportunity providers or OPs) and

  • those that provide activities (activity providers, APs).

Voluntarily.nz does not allow self signup of organisations. We prefer organisations to join by invitation having developed some initial understanding of what the platform provides and how it works. Organisations on the Voluntarily.NZ platform act as the primary mechanism for ensuring activities are safe, effective and have positive outcomes. Organisations take responsibility for their members as they participate in activities.

Each organisation must provide a member who can act as ‘Ambassador’ for that organisation. This person is given admin rights to manage their organisation and membership. They can add and remove people in the organisation, can edit the organisation profile and can decide whether new offerings need approval before publication.

Initial information about the Voluntarily platform and service is made available to people via email, website, brochure, direct communication. Once an organisation is interested and can identify its first ambassador then the voluntarily platform will send that person an invitation to sign into the platform and create their organisation.

This process is different for businesses, schools and activity providers.

Inviting a new School

To do this you require the System Administrator role.

The page /admin/invite-school provides the form to invite a person to visit voluntarily.nz and create a new school.

  • Enter a name and email address of the chosen ambassador

  • Find the name of the school in the selection list. This list has an autocomplete feature so you can simply type part of the name to match.

  • Add an additional message to be included in the invitation email. This should explain why they are being invited and provide links to further information.

The Schools list is populated from a database table of schools in your country.

If the dropdown of schools has no data,

see

Here is an example of the email generated: (wording may change over time)

When the teacher clicks the SignUp button they will arrive at a sign in box.

If they are using the ESL Single Sign in facility they should enter their school email address. The screen will then change to the ESL sign in screen.

If using a personal email address the teacher should click the Sign-Up tab and enter their new username and password.

If using social media sign up the person can just click on the appropriate box and sign in using Facebook, Twitter, GitHub or Linked In.

When creating a new account you may see this request to Authorise Voluntarily to use your Authorisation account. Click Yes,

The System will now create the School and a membership record for the person. They will finish on their Dashboard which will show the initial GoalCards allocated for the School Ambassador - Complete the school profile and run the first suggested Activity.

Clicking on the Member of [School name] link in the sidebar leads to the School profile page.
