Actor Problem Statements

There are four main groups of people interacting with the Voluntari.ly platform.

  • Schools → Opportunity Providers,  Activity and Volunteer Consumers.
  • Content →  Activity Providers
  • Corporates → Volunteer Providers
  • Agencies → Report Consumers


Schools

Organisations: Primary, Intermediate, High Schools, Tertiary colleges, Marae and Community Education groups.

People:  Teachers, Principles, PTA & Teaching Assistants & Senior students may all be interested in creating a request for help. - An opportunity to volunteer.

I care about

  • Achieving learning outcomes for students
  • My own level of knowledge and understanding

I need help with

  • Finding a relevant activity for my class that matches their age group, subject and learning goals. 
  • Fixing and installing stuff
  • Inspiration
  • Someone to talk to about...

I currently

  • Search for activities and materials on Google & You Tube
  • and have stuff shared with other teachers.
  • I ask for volunteers using the local PTA and teacher network. 

I want to see

  • A place to search for activities & content - that tells me how well they match my needs.
  • A way to connect with people in business and tech that have skills and knowledge I can tap into
  • A way to get competent helping hands for activities that need it.

Content Providers

Organisations: OMGTech, Commercial content providers, educational NFP, CRI's, Universities, Schools and Teachers, Individuals

I have stuff

  • Online Content - videos, how tos, maker plans 
  • Equipment - e.g. programmable model cars, rockets
  • Space

Corporates

Organisations:

  • Large: Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) groups and volunteer programmes.
  • Small: Tech groups interested in getting involved in education or open source development.

I need this to be simple

  • Onboarding
  • Reporting
  • People being ready and prepared
  • Managing volunteer days and time. 


Volunteers

I care about

  • being useful, feeling wanted, giving back
  • using my skills and knowledge
  • having my own learning experiences

I can help with

  • teaching students
  • mentoring an educator
  • fixing and installing stuff
  • being available to answer questions as a subject matter expert

I want to see

  • Its easy for me to get setup in the system
  • I can list my skills and interests
  • I can browse requests and opportunities
  • I can volunteer for calls and events
  • I can be contacted (shoulder tapped) but people looking for help.
  • I can track what I have done, my achievements, get feedback and stories of the outcomes.

Agencies

Includes Sponsors and funding organisations.

I care about

  • Measuring Impact
  • Promoting Involvement
  • Wise investment

I want to see

  • Agency Dashboard - tell me what is going on, degree of involvement and impacts
  • Publishable metrics & reports.
  • Real world stories ( both successes and failures )
